Why People Hate Me-Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most popular and successful footballers in the history of sportsmen, and according to him that comes with having haters.
Ronaldo
The Real Madrid player has made quite a name for himself, both in the world of football and off the soccer field, winning numerous awards like the ballon d’or and cupping loads of modeling and endorsement deals which still fetch him a lot of fortune when he is not making money off his football skills.
While it is not unusual for successful players like Ronaldo to live life in the fast lane and buy lots of luxurious things, there is still something about the footballer that gets to attract more hate and criticism than usual from soccer fans all over the world.
Responding to why he thought a lot of people hate him, Ronaldo blamed it on jealousy and the fact that he was so handsome and successful.
“I think that because I am rich, handsome and a great player people are envious of me. I don’t have any other explanation,” he said.

The footballer is also currently dating Russian supermodel Irina Shayk who has bagged her own fair share of success and controversies as well.

Exclusive Interview with Monifah of R&B Divas – talks new album, LaTavia of Destinys Child & Meelah from 70

The hit reality TV show R&B Divas is back with a new season. Two new cast members have joined and fans are gearing up for an interesting season. Singer, Monifah who is also a cast on the TV One reality show was at the Pink and Pamper Expo in New York this past weekend and my namesake Ms Toni of Cotten Kandi got to interview her. She got some exclusive scoops straight from the divas mouth.  In this interview Monifah talks about so many things, some of which include her marriage, the new season of the hit TV One reality show, her new cast mates and her up coming album. You can read the full interview below.

On what we can expect to see on the third season of ‘R&B Divas’ and new cast mates Latvia Roberson & Meelah Williams:
Two cast members left, Faith Evans left in the middle of the second season and Nicci Gilbert didn’t return. LaTavia Roberson who was one of the members of ‘Destiny’s Child’ and Meelah Williams from ’702′ joined the cast. It’s a really really good energy. They just brought some more life and have different perspectives because their both from groups. They have amazing stories and amazing things going on in their lives outside of being artists and trying to get back on the scene. Meelah’s getting into the solo realm so that’s her story. LaTavia’s looking to do other things before she steps back in the actual music thing. They bring great energy. You’re gonna get to see the drama of real life but you’re also gonna see the sisterhood and the resolution of the issues that we do deal with— with each each other and in our respective lives.

On whether LaTavia and Meelah bring a more positive and uplifting energy to the cast:
The energy has shifted. Of course, we don’t have the personality clash of Nicci and Syleena (Johnson) anymore. She (Nicci) decided to not come back so with these different personalities it’s a whole different energy. There absolutely is a big difference— a different energy. They left and then a new energy came in.

On how she’s evolved since being on the show:
I’m just aware of where I want to be spiritually as a person. I’m growing. It’s consciously and on purpose. And I think that being apart of this cast has helped that tremendously. When you’re around different people it’s really a mirror to show you who you are. I believe if you spot it you got it. Something that gets on your nerves, that’s definitely a reflection of something that’s going on with you so the bottom line is this, the only thing I have control over is my decisions and my will so I’m very focused on that and just being a better person and just aware, being compassionate and letting all the silliness go.

On whether she’s already gotten married to her girlfriend Terez, who proposed during season 2 of the reality show:
I sure have! And you’ll get to see it on the show.

Monifah and Terez were married during an Hawaiian getaway and celebration for the singer’s birthday earlier this year

On whether she’s aware that her story has inspired other same sex couples:
It just happened that I was in a healthy and happy beautiful relationship with my life partner. I knew that she was my life partner and when I got on the show, why wouldn’t I share that part of my life? It’s a part of my life. She’s my partner, she’s my best friend, she’s around, she helps me with everything and we help each other through. It wasn’t on purpose I just wasn’t going to hide it. As things went along we understood the value; sharing our relationship would help a lot of people, same sex couples, especially black women, black men in our society. And with the big issues surrounding religion and equality (among same sex couples), we knew that to share our healthy, mature connection is different than a lot of the images you see of us (gay couples).

On whether her daughter, Akemi, still struggles with her relationship and if she’s more accepting since getting married:
I decided, always, that it wasn’t going to be a struggle which is why we talked and shared that part (of our story), because, that’s another part the people needed to see. You don’t have to move with animosity and anger. That’s my child. I’m her mom and that’s just the way it is. It will always be that way and God doesn’t want to see our connection destroyed based on a disagreement. It doesn’t really mean that much in the grand scheme of things. She’s young. She has yet to experience life on a full scale. It’s not as black and white and I don’t think she gets that but I still respect where she is and accept [it]. But my life, I’m gonna live it how I see fit and I’m gonna be a human being… to be an example for her. We love each other and she’s not uncomfortable. She’s never been uncomfortable, it’s just, I think in her space with her beliefs she’s feeling [conflicted]… and I think in time that will shift as she has different experiences with different people. The world is not a bubble. It’s broad. You have to deal with a lot of people and you have to have room for differences.

On feeling pressure to be an example and fight against the negative stereotypes of being a black woman on reality TV, especially when it comes to being combative or argumentative in anyway:
No. I think that how you walk, however you decide to move, if it’s positive or someone seems something [negative] it is what it is. I don’t feel pressure. What I’m doing and how I’m living is for me. But I also know that the side effect, for a lack of a better term, is that somebody will be inspired or ‘Wow maybe I’ll try that. I like the way she lives or deals with certain things.’ And that’s the perks. But I don’t feel pressure. I feel pressure to be the most decent human being I can be for myself and grow my soul.

On finally putting out new music and an album:
It’s been 14 years (since her last album). It’s been a solid, almost, three years that I’ve been working on it and getting things together. The industry has changed so much, in a great way. I’m getting acclimated to it and with the hat of business on and living and dying by my own decisions is amazing and it’s also very terrifying. So, I’m finally in a place where the confidence is there. I’m actually about to put a new single on iTunes. A song that I was working on in one of the scenes this season…I have some great music and I’m really excited to share it.

On when she thinks she’ll release an album:
I’m thinking summer (this year).

On whether she’ll be going back to her R&B roots:
It’ll be R&B, whatever, a lot of stuff. I’ve never been afraid to do different stuff. “Touch It” was kind of weird, in my second album (Mo’Hogany). Coming from “Miss You” and “You” [on first album "Moods...Moments"] and this “White Horse (Touch It remix)” sample became a huge dance hit and cross over. I love music period and I grew up on tons of different music and like a lot of different music. You’ll hear all the things that I like incorporated. I’m not afraid to take chances and do something different.

The third season of “R&B Divas” premiered April 23rd on TV One. It was the highest rated prime time original series to date for the network. Cast members include Keke Wyatt, Angie Stone, Syleena Johnson, newcomers LaTavia Roberson and Meelah Williams and Monifah Carter.

The show airs every Wednesday night at 10 pm ET

South Sudan rivals Kiir and Machar agree peace deal

South Sudan's President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar have agreed a peace deal after a five-month conflict.

The deal calls for an immediate truce and the formation of a transitional government ahead of the drafting of a new constitution and new elections.

The conflict in the world's newest state has left thousands dead and more than one million homeless.

A ceasefire agreed in January collapsed within days, with both sides accusing each other of restarting the fighting.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said Friday's agreement "could mark a breakthrough for the future of South Sudan".

"The hard journey on a long road begins now and the work must continue," added Mr Kerry, who played an instrumental role in bringing together the two sides.

CBN Did Nothing Wrong By Spending N56 Billion On Varsities, Poly – Sanusi Lamido

Suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Malam Sanusi Lamido, has disclosed that he only disbursed the sum of N56 billion as intervention fund for the provision of infrastructure at 27 universities and six polytechnics across the country.

According to him, based on the dividend payments to the Federal Government in two years – 2012 and 2013 – there was nothing wrong in the apex bank undertaking “capital projects of N56 billion in five years”.

These formed part of his remarks at the Zonal meeting of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, (SSANU) held at Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST) on Friday.

Sanusi also appealed to the FG not to suspend on-going projects funded by CBN at various universities based on the bad-blood between them.

He said: “I want to clarify that a lot of numbers have been thrown around that I have spent N160 billion university interventions. I want to tell you that from 2009 to 2013 the total amount disbursed by the CBN on all the contracts at universities,  polytechnics, secondary schools and CBN branches was N56 billion”.

The Kano-born prince clarified that it was an average of N11 billion per annum, noting that CBN has in 2013 alone given the federal government a dividend of N159 billion and N80 billion in 2012.

Justifying his spending on universities, Sanusi asked: “if CBN was giving N159 billion and N80 billion as dividends in two years, what is wrong in undertaking capital projects of N56 billion in five years?”

He stressed the need for SSANU and ASUU “to appeal to the federal government that it should let the projects continue” because according to him, “History will judge as all structures are there for all to see”.

He continued: “Several months ago, ASUU was on strike because federal government did not meet its commitment to developing university education. The federal government came to me as part of its efforts to end ASUU strike, saying that the CBN should give the list of the project it had carried out in Nigerian universities and the deputy should explain to ASUU that CBN as agency of government has ongoing projects at the universities”.

A Starting XI of the Fastest Players in World Footbal

It's true, speed is becoming a crucial part of a player's toolbox in the modern day game.

Look at the recent Ballon d'Or nominees, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Franc Ribery. They all have huge amounts of pace and hold the ability to run past players in seconds.

If you look at the FIFPro starting XI, there are many players who possess a great amount of speed and it helps them hugely week in-week out.

You may ask yourself, what would a team look like if all of the world's fastest players came together?

This team combines both speed and quality.

The formation is a 4-3-1-2.

GK - Joe Hart (Manchester City)

It's hard to judge a goalkeeper as they don't do much running on the pitch, but England shot stopper Joe Hart is lightening quick. He showed us all how fast he really was after he ran back from the box in the final seconds of the Manchester Derby.

He charged down the pitch after United counter attacked, leaving all his fellow defenders behind him to save them from conceding a second.

Nobody could quite believe how quick Hart was.

RB - Ignazio Abate (AC Milan)

The Italian is one of the quickest defenders in the world.

Abate's best asset is pace and for a while it seemed like his only asset. But this season he has come on leaps and bounds and is slowly becoming a regular in the Milan side.

This video shows how quick Abate is, as he sprints past an England player with ease.

CB - Marvell Wynne (Colorado Rapids)

The defender was tipped to become an athlete as a youngster after clocking a time of 10.39 seconds in the 100m as a senior in high school.

Ironically, he plays for the Colorado Rapids in the MLS and is officially the world's fastest professional footballer.

The 27-year-old has played for the New York Red Bulls and Toronto as well as Colorado Rapids.

It looks like it was a good decision to pursue a career in football, Marvell.

CB - Thiago Silva (Paris St Germain)

PSG spent a huge £42 million on the Brazilian defender because of his pace, power and composure.

The centre back has speed in abundance. This season he has been prolific and a number of pacey strikers have not been able to pass the 29-year-old for the French side.

The combination of speed, agility and power has seen the Defender labelled as one of the best in the world, even earning him a deserved place in the FIFPro team of the year.

LB - Gael Clichy (Manchester City)

The Frenchman still has to be one of the fastest defenders in Europe despite his re-occurring injury problems that have hampered the 28-year-old's career.

When fit, he can be a consistent performer who brings bags of pace to the squad. His marauding runs and overlaps can be a dangerous asset, as shown here in the clip from when he played for Arsenal a few years back.

100% fully fit, he can be one of the best defenders in the league.

LM - Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)

You may want to ask former Inter Milan defender Maicon about how fast Gareth Bale is.

He made the Brazilian look slow in the 2010 Champions League tie as he battered the Italians on his own.

The Welshman was clocked at a speed of 25mph against Villareal this season. One of the quickest in La Liga and around the world.

CM - Ramires (Chelsea)

The Chelsea star may not be the most skillful or flamboyant of players, but he make up with it with pace. Lots of it.

He is extremely quick and has the stamina to back his play up, tracking back at every available opportunity.

A key player who gives the team speed and acceleration.

RM - Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

The England international began showing signs of speed at an early age.

He recorded a time of 11.52 seconds in a 100m sprint as a 14-year-old and is now running just under 10.6 seconds, burning top Premier League defenders week in-week out for Arsenal.

Walcott is one of the fastest in the game and in this clip, he shows his blinding speed against Brighton in the cup. Crazy crazy speed.

AMC - Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)

The Ballon d'Or winner once ran 96 metres speed in10 seconds in a match against Atletico Madrid in 2012.

The Portugese star is known for his fantastic dribbling skills and is one of the best in the world for using his pace to go past players.

He once famously raced a Bugatti Veyron and matched it's speed, unfortunately it was only a commercial. If only Cristiano, if only.

ST - Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund)

The French-Gabonese striker once covered 30 metres in an incredible 3.7 seconds. This is faster than Usain Bolt ran at the start of his record-breaking 100m race in Berlin 2009.

The Dortmund striker has impressed since joining the German side, scoring 10 goals in 17 games. His ability to run past players with his lightning speed is a main factor in his successful scoring run over the past few seasons.

The forward has many years ahead of him at the age of 24. There is an exciting future ahead for sure.

ST - Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)

The Aston Villa striker is one of the fastest players in the Premier League at the moment. The 26-year-old is capable of running the 100m sprint in 10.98 seconds.

The Englishman is another player who has struggled with injury in the past couple of seasons, but when on form he can be deadly infront of goal with his unpredictable bursts of pace.

He is the Villans' all time leading goalscorer in the Premier League, scoring 66 goals since 2005.
